Hi Guys,

I've been a bit naughty. Well, not naughty, but I made a mistake. Back in May, I had flu and was off work for a grand total of 7 working days. At the time, my manager asked if I'd been to the doctor, to which I replied yes, just so it sounded as if I was making the effort to get better. The truth is that I didn't bother to go to the doctor, because I thought it was just a cold.
I've now been asked to get a doctors note as I had more than 5 days off, but I'm not sure if I can get one if I didn't actually see the doctor?
I'm getting a little worried now as I don't want work to find out I lied, even though its not exactly the biggest, most damaging lie in the world.

Sooo, can you get a docs certificate if you didn't actually go to the docs? Please say you can!

Thanks!

yes, you make a fair point, snags ;o)
what I would say indieanna, is flash the cash - you could ask for a private sick note and I don't think there would be a problem - if your GP is anything like mine - just mention the word PRIVATE and he will put his signature to anything !!!
sara...whilst salla was away, you were a hopeless locum, completely non attentive, so down the list you went.
I didn't realise I was Salla's deputy. no one warned me of this!
cazz...blimey...next thing is that you will want to be treated as equals.
Go to a private doctor and tell them you need a private sick note covering that for flue, say you had flue so bad you felt too week to leave the house and had rather hoped that your company would have been more compassionate, but they are not and you are worried they may sack you, depending upon the doctor they will either refuse OR write you out a backdated note for £10 or so
