Tooth Extraction Price!
7 Answers
Just wondered how much other vets charge for this operation (fortunately not my dog!) She's a fairly small terrier type, had a tooth abcess which has been treated with antibiotics and gone down. The vet thinks that the tooth ought to come out, cost of operation - £250!! Does this sound rather a lot to pet owners (or vets) out there?

As well as the tooth extraction they will probably clean the other teeth and give a total check up of all the teeth to make sure there are no other dental problems.
You could always phone around other vets in your area, or even get a second opinion but you will probably find that they all charge around the same.

Seems a lot to me, I would ring round. The smaller 'one man band' vets tend to be cheaper than the bigger practices with vet hospitals and loads of staff. A castration or hip scoring which involves an anesthetic would only be around £150 for most breeds, and I would expect a tooth extraction to be similar
