HOW does smoking increases the risk of a heart attack?

As far as i know, the tar that accumulates from inhaling the cigarette, gathers to block the arteries, thus creating the heart to spasm, ie. a heart attack! (I am actually a smoker and it kills me to exlian this!)

A couple of reasons - nicotine in the blood causes the veins to constrict, therefore increasing the blood pressure. Smoking also leaves carbon monoxide in  haemoglobin -  carbon monoxide will displace oxygen, reducing the amount of oxygen being carried by the haemoglobin through the venous system that is available for tissue & organ perfusion, including the heart.  Because of the lack of oxygen being perfused throughout the body, the heart will try to beat faster in order to pump more blood, the heart itself is not getting enough oxygen, vicious circle, e.t.c  All these factors mentioned will put added strain on a persons heart, possibly culminating in a heart attack.

Hahaha. I'm not a smoker. I'm just doing this as a research project so as to convince my dad to quit smoking. :)

How bout caffeine? Does is have anything to do with heart disease? This is for my sake because I love coffee. :p

caffeine? lol no im pretty sure it doesnt have anything to do with heart disease. it is a type of drug, however. its just not very harmful to your system. its addictive and can alter your natural body clock, but if you like drinking coffee there isnt too much of a reason to stop.
