I have been taking 5Mg amlodipine for seven days.

Despite all I have read I do not appear to have suffered any side effects apart from a flushed face and slight headache.

However my BP, if anything, is higher and I would like to know how long it is supposed to take before the effects of the drug become apparent.

It could take up to a month.

Good afternoon Sqad

and thank you for your prompt response.

The doctor did ask to see me after a month but she seemed more concerned about the possible side-effects than it not working.
Side effects can become a problem, but a month is a good timespan to assess the effects.

The side effects may have disappeared after month.....so no problem.
The side effects may be persisting ?lower the dose or change the medication.
i am on filodopine (same group as yours) it took about 3 months for the doctor to get my dosage correct but i have had a dry cough ever since. my doc says its a common side affect and if i can put up with it i should as my bp has come down
