Has anyone had this happen to them. You are in a deep sleep, suddenly you hear the phone ring which wakes you up but its not ringing, its in your head. Or you hear someone you know (like your partner) calling you (not someone dead !) and you wake up, but no-one is there. Is there an explanation for this ?

It all felt real, but the oddest thing was the fact that i could see myself laying on the ground......Beleive me it was real.
I've always had vivid dreams and they often make me wake up feeling bad especially when they are about past break-ups or a future one. For years I have had a recurring dream that I'm on the ground and I watch a low flying plane tumble to the ground. I's awful.
Forgive me for asking Garmard, but I'm genuinely interested. Were you in hospital having an op? If not, what circumstances made you have a NDE, or is that too personal to answer?
That sounds ghastly, Prudie; I've got a bit of a phobia of low flying planes.

My dreams are very 'real' as well and can leave me really unsettled. Like others here, I'm often sure I've heard a loud bang or someone calling and I'm wide awake in an instant. Can't remember the last time I slept right through a night.
I was fast asleep when someone called my name, I woke up to find that I'd overslept and had about 45 minutes to get to an appointment. There was no-one in the house.
15 years ago smudge i was involved in a climbing accident, the details i don't like to talk about. But i remember the blind panic of falling from some cliffs in Derbyshire and then a numb feeling when i hit the ground 50 feet below. What i can recall is everything going black, but not just black, but real black like being enveloped by something.
It was then i thought i had got up again, but when i looked down i saw myself laying on the grass and i remember feeling scared? I could see my friends all standing around me then some one behind me told me too stand away from them, which i felt i did.
It was my Grandad who had died about 12 years before who directed me and he was with someone i had never seen before but they just looked at me smiling......It got really lucid then as i felt myself moving very fast and then found myself in my living room at home with my Grandad. Believe it or not i was sitting down with him for what seemed like ages just talking while this other guy just stood staring at me.......Would you like me to carry on?
I would
Very spooky dreams here! I've had a couple that have come true....

My Mum & Dad stayed one weekend & on the Saturday night, I dreamed that Dad was laying in a pool of blood with Mum standing over him, calling his name. I felt quite sad when I woke up, but only told my husband about it.

On the Wednesday, my sister phoned me to say Dad had been rushed into hospital with a burst ulcer. He'd projected & lost an awful lot of blood in the bedroom & bathroom, which my sister kindly cleared up before Mum got back from the hospital. My sister had wear sunglasses to do this, as it was quite a horrific scene.
That must have been a vey strange experience Garmard & one you'll never forget. It must also be difficult to try to explain exactly how you felt at the time & hope that some people believe you - I certainly do.

I am so glad you lived to tell the tale! ♥
years ago while with my first love I dreamt he left me for a blonde called Anna and experienced all the trauma of it in the dream. I told him and we often joked about it over the next few years. 2 years after we married he left me for a blonde called Anne. Bit weird eh! Even weirder is he later re-married somebody else and she is called Annie.
That is amazing Prudie!
('scuse grammar, been a long day)!
I cannot remember to this day what we talked about, only that he kept saying that i'll be alright soon and this guy who had the strangest features agreeing with him and nodding at me all the time. Then my Grandad got up from the chair (which all i can remember thinking was that he had a cheek as it was my chair to sit on) and i felt him push me and saying something like "You have to go now but i will always be right here."
I had a strange falling sensation and saw myself in a hospital bed before i woke up.
Apparently when i came out of unconciousness after an op to relieve bleeding on my brain a few hours after the accident i supposedly said to the nurse "Am i me now or am i still with my Grandad?"
They obviously didn't know what i was on about but to this day i think about what happened and it felt as real as real could be?
Gosh smudge just looked at your stats - you must have been one of the first to ever us this site, didnt even realise it went back to 02. You deserve the imperial service medal or something!
Ah, those words "Am I me now or am I still with my Grandad?" brought a tear to my eye Garmard. I bet he had been with you all the time. ♥
From that day to this we get cold spots in our living room from time to time,,,,,,but i have never understood who he was with?
That is an amazing story garmard, so has it made you religious if you weren't already and has it allayed any fears of death, belief in the afterlife etc?
Yes, time flies Prudie - can't believe it myself sometimes! ;o}
wow garmand what a lovely story (not the accident obviously) but nice to know you felt numbness on falling rather than agonising pain
Garmad, an amazing story, thank god you lived to see another day.
