Question for Sqad please

Having read the papers which says some BP meds may increase cancer risk, can you tell me if Coaprovel is and ACE inhibitor or an ARB - many thanks

Damn and twice damn, am I at any risk now? My doctor keeps on at me to change but I refuse cos I'm very happy with it. And the last one he put me on made me cough all the time. Enalaprol I think it was. Any suggs sqad for here in Spain? cos my doctor will listen to me if I can suggest something. Obviously he check's it out!

and as for the diuretic bit, I hardly go, doc did say that bu weeing more often it would lower the BP but i only go about 5x a day, is that normal?

net........look at it this way.......you BP is under control, you feel well.........if I were you, I wouldn't change a bloody thing.

I agree with Sqad. Mr LL is on an ARB, Neti. Suits him just fine and nobody has suggested changing. He was changed because of coughing. Trouble is no drug is without risk. You have to weigh up the pros and cons I suppose. A very small risk of cancer as against a stroke? I'm not a medic though, so shouldn't be advising.

True. I suppose empathatic or straight forward answers are OK. ie. Coaproel is an ARB. And sometimes it's nice to talk to others with the same problem. It can be quite reassuring.

But then along comes a medic and worries us all to death!! ;o)

lottie, did mr. ll persevere with his previous meds? i ask because i'm on ramipril and have found that the coughing gradually wore off. the dosage had to be increased twice and each time the cough started up again, but now, after about 3 years, i don't get the cough at all. i know it probably varies from person to person, just curious :)

I was put on enalapril 2x and both times I developed this niggling cough all day and all night, I persevered but it didn't go away so they changed me.

Ethandron. His BP tablets are amongst others he has to take following a heart attack so obviously when they were changed they had to consider lots of other medications. He had a lot of problems with some of the medications, so obviously just followed the doctors advice when it came to swapping over.

guess i've just been lucky then. just reminded me to start taking my blood pressure again, have forgotten all about it for a while. been eating like a pig and drinking like a fish lately so i have a feeling it's going to be a bit up...

etheladon - I tookBP yesterday and it was absolutely fine, so went and pigged out and ate all I wanted and drank half bottle of wine, live dangerously!!!!

ha neti, i've just done it and it's 147 over 73 - yikes!! time to do something about it i think :(
will keep monitoring it for a week or so and see how it goes, but it's been creeping up for a while now, never this high though, low 130's. don't think i want to live this dangerously :) :)

Blimey ethelandron, mine was 114 over 72, you'd better start eating fish and toms, I hate them but it's my BP emergency measure. Mind you i rarely take my BP.
