me and partner are having a little debate here on walking barefoot around the house. Ihate wearing socks or slippers as i find when you wear them your feet sweat therefore are more prone to getting fungal infections etc yet he says this is really unhealthy and dirty. What do you think?

rarely wear shoes and have been like that for the past thousand years (am an old person)- have really good feet. no problems at all with them and have never had any sort of infection. give them a really good clean each night in the shower and lots of cream etc. if we lived in the bush we wouldn't be wearing shoes would we?
If you both have clean feet, clean socks and relatively clean floors, then there's no problem.
I walk around both indoors and outdoors in bare feet all the time. I've just come back from walking my dogs and it was vert nice to feel damp grass under foot. My feet are a bit tough but otherwise very healthy.
Thump him.....he's accusing you of having a dirty home.
i never wear shoes or socks in the house, i really don't know what is dirty or unhealthy about it ?!? wear them or don't wear them, it's whatever a person is comfortable with, nothing more and nothing less.
I saw this health programme and the Chiropodist said that try and go bare foot as often as you can, apparently it's good for the feet. I don't like wearing slippers, i prefer bare foot around the house.
try flip-flops, freedom and hygiene
I would love to go barefoot except I have very, very cold feet. Sheepskin slippers is the only thing for me.
Some people cannot bear the sight of bare feet, it can be really repulsive to some (others love them!). Maybe that's his problem - he is repulsed by any bare feet. If that's the case, he really can't help it, and perhaps you can find a compromise - this socks, maybe.
I go round barefoot at home and have never had any problems.
My feet are always hot, so mostly i dont wear shoes/slippers round the house. I think its healthy not to have footwear on for a good part of the day to let feet breathe.

Its heaven to walk in the sand barefoot...very good for exfoliating....

I hate wearing shoes indoors...it just doesn't feel 'right'. But I need socks in the winter....my feet get quite cold.
I am always barefoot, as is my son. The other half usually just wears socks around the house. None of us ever get any sort of feet problems.
Try wearing sandals, and you have less chance of anything spiking your feet.
Barefoot whenever possible. When I was young I rarely wore shoes. The only problem now is that I have arthritic feet, (nothing to do with going around barefoot) Can't stand socks or shoes/sandals and absolutely hate slippers. I bought myself some last winter and they are still in the box. I prefer cold feet!! I have never had a fungal infection, corns or bunions, but the soles or my feet are prone to hard skin - which I treat regularly.
My feet get wet when showering my guys,so have to be aware of getting fungal infections....
I go barefoot at home, in the winter I'll wear a pair of bed socks or slippers, Tonyted you are right flipflops can be dangerous things, I've got a sore knee to prove it, fell up the step bringing the washing in.
