don't worry about it, Mollykins. It doesn't seem to worry him, it's just you that's getting upset - and you just have to learn not to let other people's interests upset you even if you don't share them. If it does him no harm, just be happy for him.

Suezy, we get unlimited internet paid for us, cos dad needs it for work but we have a pc and a laptop (which doesn't work half the time)

There is one way of stopping this obsession and that's to actually book him a weekend on a sailing boat where he has to learn the ropes etc. Making a dream become reality spoils the dream, but then you'll be posting 'how do you help a depressed Dad?' Your choice.

feeding and looking after your own pets isnt a chore.
The helping tidying around the house isnt a hardship.
your dads the earner so let him have his dreams and let him save up for whatever he wants. The joint money your parents save is theirs and theirs alone, let them decide between them whether it goes towards a kitchen or a boat. If your mum feels that strongly then she is an adult with options of her own.

But there isn't much ese to do round the house, we have a window cleaner, we all have to help clean the kitchen and mop the floors, which only gets done when someones coming to stay, the only things I don't do are; the laundry (but like i said i often have to hang it out and bring it back in), put the bins out, and DIY, which never gets done.
