Hi Out there...feeling a bit down. Today was my weekly weigh in and have again put on 1 lb. making it a total of 6 pounds in a couple of months. I have doing Rosemary Connely since last Sept and managed to loose 10 kilos.
My doctor had given me pills to help keep my hunger down ( I didn't think they did) but now they have been taken off the market. (can't remember their name)

I am eating the same and exercising every day (am 70 yrs old) so I just wanted some support really. I shall keep on of course but it is so annoying to see numbers going the wrong way.

Hi XSTITCHER that's where we go for birthday dinners to Chinese where you help yourself to everything and that's where I will be going again last week in October.
Notafish you have done well but be careful as if you take it off too fast it tends to go back on quicker but hope you make it to your gaol.
I've gained six stones.......................................
..all
diamonds...don't mind that sort of gain
Congratulations to you Rowanwitch.
Thanks Wendilla, I will be careful.
Congratulations Rowanwitch!
I've had a couple of pieces of chocolate cake this week. I have a feeling I will have lost one pound this week, but will try not to be too disappointed if I haven't.
if you lose weight by dieting you will put it all back on again. The trick is to change your lifestyle especially your eating habits, It works for me I do not miss cakes, biscuits, sweets, CHOCOLATE, potatoes. because we do not buy them and temptation is not there. Try walking down the cake aisle of a supermarket with the sole intention of not buying anything, if you cannot get to the other end without buying anything then you will not lose weight.Putting on a pound in a week is equivalent to eating 2 1/2 loaves of bread too much or 6 packets of bicuits per week, that is nearly a packet of biscuit per day.
Hello Jomifl yes that is what most of us are trying to do. I have stressed through this threads that it is best to eat healthily and not go on strict strict diets as the faster you take it off the quicker it will go on . Have a treat as it gets boring if you don't. Also if you don't eat enough you won't lose weight as I have proved. I had my grandson here overnight on Friday and we always have fish and chips when he stops over but I don't think it will make a difference as I have been good throughout the week. Well Wednesday will tell.
Don't obsess on the numbers - keep mobile, eat and drink sensibly ie good mix of fruit, veg and lean protein - don't go mad on the butter, lard and gin. It's how you feel that is important and if being weighed makes you miserable, don't do it unless it's 'doctor's orders'. Chin up now - 'keep calm and carry on'.
In the short term water loss or retention can confuse the issue, as when you reduce food intake your body automatically gets rid of water and you lose weight (but not much fat) which is very encouraging. However after a few days it starts to retain water again which gives the impression that your diet is not working. At this point some people give up and try another diet which just confuses your metabolism. Gradual change is the best way in my opinion, just cut out 1 fattening thing every fortnight or so until you have given up all those that you want to.

Hi Wendilla,

Tomorrow my 11 month old granddaughter who is a twin and has been diagnosed with muscular distrophy (sp??) will be undergoing a brain scan with a full anesthectic... her twin brother is fine. This is scary. Do you or any body out there know much about this? I mean anything, both the illness and the scans.
Sorry, I don't know. But if you start a new question in the Health and Fitness section, someone who knows the answer might see it. I hope all goes well.
So sorry to hear that but as Notafish says you will get replies there and their is genuine people on there to help you that has probably experienced it. I shall be back later with my weight as not weighed yet

Thank you both for your answers and I shall do that. Today I am off to buy a new bra as mine are are too big. Suddenly last week everything was getting loose on me and yes, yes, yes I have gone down 1 whole lovely kilo. According to my BMI I am now not overweight....oh boy!!!!!!Anyhow onwards and downwards my friends.
Hi again and well done Xstitcher. That was the first thing I noticed was my bras. Well it's another 1lb. I think I am going to be struggling to get to the 2 stone mark before end of October but I have never put on .I have 8 lbs to go for the 2 stone. But I will carry on as it is going the right way and 1lb off is better than a 1lb on. I am beginning to feel comfortable in my clothes and not wearing baggy tops now.
Onwards and Downwards
Xstitcher was just thinking after I replied earlier .Why don't you google MS you will get all the info there. I never studied much in that and my nursing goes back to 1956 and things have changed a lot since then.
Sorry that should have read M D
Sometimes a change of diet can help restart your weight loss. Are you going to the Rosemary Connely clubs. Slimming clubs can really help with weight loss because it makes the whole thing a little more fun and socialble. Read this for more on slimming clubs http://www.womenrepub...iet_fitness/slimming/ But as other have said at 70 you should be enjoying your life. Unless you are overweight, then don't worry about the odd 1lb or two.
Hello everyone, I've put on a pound and a half this week. I'm not sure why because I thought I was doing well. It may have something to do with losing four pounds last week.
Hi Notafish not sure how old you are but it may have something to do with the time of the month for you.

Hello All,

Well done people. I have heard that you can put on weight sometimes by water retention but I don't know anything about it. It just sounds "temporary" to me.

All my summer blouses from last year are too big. I have just had a cotton one in the wash at a high temp and hope it has shrunk and if not I'll get the old Singer out and stitch down the side seams......what a lovely job.

At my Overseas Iceland supermarket I can get English celery which I think tastes so good so I really load up on it. I was using fruit bars as a snack but have just found out that they are not good so out with them.....can't get them here anyhow.

Don't worry Wendilla if you don't reach your goal by October. You are doing all the right things and you will achieve it. I'm so sure of that.
