I will be hitting 40 in a few weeks and Im feeling quiet anxious, sometimes a little sad that life is passing me by so quickly! Is it just me or do most people feel like that when they are nearing a birthday?

The passing of my own birthdays don't bother me too much. But my lad is celebrating his 35th birthday today. That really does make me feel old!
Boona, I agree so much with joeluke's sentiments on here, I couldn't have said it better - however, your circumstances are probably affecting the way you feel at the moment. So sorry to hear about your husband, especially with a little one..... 40 is not on, I didn't meet my husband till I was in my fifties and he always says (as JL) does, age is only a number. You will feel better - May is not that long ago - celebrate being 40 as it comes as the start of a new era in your life. Take it from me that you will not forget the old one, but 40 is a great place to be.
^^ ahem, I meant to say "40 is not old..."
Hello boona - Every day brings its own special reward and every year is to be welcomed. Don't worry about how quickly the time passes by - just fill every day with some special moment. You have a darling daughter to love and care for and watching her grow up will be so very special for you ♥
hi boona, sorry about your husband, but word of warning dont let 4get anywhere near your baby, very unpredictable !
why say that? Im great with kids

yes ttfn, quiet right, watching my little girl grow up, the thought makes me smile!
Its not the life in years you need to worry about. Its how you spend your life in the time you have got.
there is a psychological phenomenon the name of which evades me at this current moment where people realise they have less life to live than they already have lived, and this could be what you are experiencing. If anyone can remember the name, please remind me :)
would be interesting to know the name bednobs, but how do you know when you are over halfway???
Believe you me 4get - I know ;-)
ha ha ttfn but I mean a 20 year old may not live till 40 but not know it. But I guess you know for definite when you are over halfway
I was being facetious 4get - you make a very valid point. However, I truly believe in quality not quantity. I would not wish to live one more day if I did not think I could do something useful or kind with it
In that case ttfn you will live for ever
That is lovely of you alex - thank you ♥
for me, I think the first half would be better than the second. even thought you cant remember most of your first years.
younger yeaof life are filed with so many memories. I guess its because when you get older every day rolls into one, work, home, tea, bed, work, home, tea, bed.....
The second half has most definitely been better for me, even though I can remember a lot of the first third and the third third (so far) but the middle third is all a bit of a blur. (I know what I mean!)
4get it all depends on what you go through in your life - neither half is exempt imo
I will be seventy next year but have enjoyed all of it, my grandaughter says I am not old just elderly, i love her to bits
