Dry hair

My daughter has "wet to dry" straighteners because she was told she would not get dry ends if she used them instead of the normal ceramic straighteners.  However, she's STILL getting dry ends.  Can anyone recommend a spray or cream or conditioner or something she could try to stop this happening?  Something cheap..ish that works please!!

Unfortunately, all straighteners tend to make the ends of the hair dry no matter what products you use. If you think about it, the very ends of your hair are the oldest so they are more likely to go dry, break or split if not well looked after. I use John Frieda Frizz Eaze serum which works well for me, but regular trims are essential to keep hair in good shape and to take off the horrible dry ends.

Your daughter might also want to try using an intensive conditioner after she has washed her hair, and leave it on for 15 mins before rinsing out.

I would also add that when towel drying your hair, try not to rub it too much, try to squeeze out the water.  Also get it as dry as you can before blasting it with the hairdryer.  I find the best treatment is an intensive conditioner (anything will do or leave your ordinary conditioner on longer) then use a leave-in conditioner on the ends before drying.

boots' own brand ("hair science") intensive conditioner is fantastic, it's about �2.50 & a bottle lasts over a month, absolutely lovely. my hair feels nicer after every use

I can vouch for the Linco Beer Co intesive conditioner, it's only 45p a sachet and is really good, at the moment in Superdrug it's 45p for two sachets.

Use a protective spray, although it doesn't completely  stop splitting it does help or at least that's what I have found. I was using expensive GHD iron oil spray (approx �14.00) but have found that Tresemme protection spray just as good if not better. Only costs about �4.00, last ages & ages and smells fab.
