Reiki Healing

Has anyone had Reiki Healing and if so what does it involve and did it work?

I had 6 complimentary visits to a pal who was setting up in a posh spa.

Don't know how typical this is, but I lay down, fully clothed but shoes off and the healer moved his hands over "chakras" - like acupuncture nodes, without any contact.

I had some aches & pains, and he spotted the areas, and actually laid hands there, without me saying where. Quite impressive.

After an hour, I got up & felt a lot better, but I'd had a good rest...

Can't say whether it worked, whether the pains went away of their own accord, but it did no harm.

This bloke is my cousins uncle....I had it done by his sister who he trained....no it didn't work.

my daughter is a Reiki practitioner and she used it on her Father after he had his hip resurfaced it helped with the pain so he could reduce his pain medication [ he was taking quite a strong one] as the previous writer said hands are passed over but not touching the body and you may feel a warm sensation the practitioner can "feel" the pain it can take a few minutes or a lot longer it can also be done as distance healing, you describe to the practitioner where you are so that they can imagine your position. After treatment you are advised to drink a lot of water and rest you will probably have the best nights sleep you ever had. I have it for neck pain and always rest much better after a treatment.

I've had it done twice. Once was amazing, she could diagnose my health problems without me telling her and I felt so energised afterwards. The second time just felt like a man waving his hands over me. So whilst I believe it works, I would say choose your practitioner carefully.

By my understanding it's to do with energy shifting.
I'm fairly skeptical about this sort of thing but I had it done on me by a friend when I had a root abscess, as a result - it flared up to the point of excriciating pain a few hours later then ...pop - gone !
