For those that have successfully quit in the past...
What do you do when it's not so much as wanting one, a craving, but more, it's what you're used to doing?
What I mean is, ive just had a brew and something to eat and it's this time i normally light a fag. I don't particularly want one for the taste, it's just because it's what i normally do, it's what I want to do- does that make sense?
Incidently, i've not had a smoke since 9 last night.
the 'habit' of where to put your hands is a bit awkward BOO, I quit 14 yrs back so I really can't remember what I did
worry beads , maybe? just a thought ;-)
Might invest in one of the E Cigs things- watccha reckon? Already on the patches and the nicorette mints.
Only drawback so far is i've become more short temperered (yes it is possible!) and i've already screamed at the dog this morning when i couldnt open the patch packet.
I brought a couple of puzzle books when i quit a few months back, everytime i felt it was one of those routine moments like you mention Boo i would do a few questions on the puzzle i was doing that day.
I have now been smoke free for over two months and it dosent bother me in the slightest.
I really love my fag breaks there as it gets me away, for 2 minutes each time, from customers. That couple of minutes break away from them is a real treat!
Might have to beg work mates to let me off till just so i can wander to the toilets or something, lol.
I just have to do something completely different.....
If I sit in a particular place, etc...........I go somewhere else where the association isn't as strong. You need to develop self-distraction techniques.
I haven't had a cigarette since 30th September and I'm still struggling, if I'm honest.
I'm still smoking in my dreams..............:o(
My father hasn't had a ciggie for the past 4 or 5 weeks. He is using the tables from the doctor (think they begin with a C). This is a very stressful time of year for him so being able to give up know (and succeed) shows how good the tablets must be.
a ganzy= a jumper, sorry ;-0)
I found it got a bit harder after 2 weeks went by and I honestly think every ex smoker secretly would love one, well even now I could but never would, not only could I not afford them now but a smoker is frowned upon (all to often imo)
Champix Sherr? i dithered over getting those, but ive heard horror stories about them, can sometimes give you awful side effects like lucid nightmares, put me right off!
Its going ot be tough Bibbs, ive been a smoker for 25 years, but im really going to try- can only do my best i suppose eh?
I would brush my teeth when I needed to do something and the taste of the mint put me off wanting a cig. You could still have those moments off the till to go and brush your teeth... Keep up the good work. When I packed in it felt like I'd walked from a stuffy, smoky room out onto a snowy mountain top. You'll never regret it.
