Or looking at it the other way: He wants closer relations with France (who takes our cash and provides no immigrant stopping service as agreed) and so he won't win the next UK GE ? Seems a good move to me.

The French President said he also has noticed how Sir Keir has a commanding Polling lead over the current UK pm Rishi Sunak, ahead of the soon expected General Election.
