Too young for love?
14 Answers
Well I recently fell in love with my girlfriend, and at first I was glad, because I knew for some time that she loves me. But now I'm starting to think that maybe I'm too young for love. I'm only 13 years old and I'm worried that because of that I'll end up hurt again.
I just want peoples opinions on if I'm too young or not.

I remember my first love, i was 14 - he was 15. Then he dumped me for a girl in the Bakery. I was gutted. But 12 years on, we are still mates and I say hi to him when we bump into each other...
....i say, don't be afraid and go for it. Whatever happens, you will learn from this experience and anyway: it is better to have love and lost then never to have loved at all.
enjoy :-)

Yes it more than likely is love, however at 13 the chances of it being your only love throughout your life is pretty slim!
Yes you may end up hurt by it eventually, but such is life- it happens to us all I'm afraid. Don't let it put you off enjoying the experience now. If we all didn't do things because they'll eventually go bad- we'd do nothing, ever!

I think it's the idea of being in love that makes it sound all romantic, also it makes you feel all grown up but personally I think it's too young. Much better to be just friends with the opposite sex. My daughter's best friend has a boyfriend and she's only 12 but they never speak to each other or see each other which seems a bit odd !
Don't rush into anything, you have plenty of time for all that sort of stuff.

At 13 I was still playing on rollerskates and watching cartoons. (Actually I still do the latter). How times change!
Are you too young? Well yeah, I think you are a bit as there's a lot about love you've to learn but you're never going to learn without experience so enjoy what you've got and don't rush things along either. Too many young people are in a hurry to be 30 these days and I can gurantee you it's not all it's cracked up to be.
As to being scared to being hurt again... Well I think you'll be ok. Don't worry too much about that.

My oldest son fell in love for the first time at the age of 19. He was hurt badly by and it will take him a long time to get over it, if he ever does. I don't think you can be to young when you hit puberty to fall in love.
As time goes on you will change You still have a lot of growing to do.
My mother in law by the way fell in love when she was 12.
She had known the boy since she was 3. She was married to him until he died 14 years ago at the age of 74. She still misses him.
My nephew met his girlfriend when he was 14. He is now 33 and they have 3 lovely boys together. So you see it is possible.
You are never to old or to young to fall in love. Just be sure you live your life before you make a commitment.

well i had my first love when i was 10! although in all honesty, even i believe i was too young, well i know i was personally.
Thing is, unfortunatley, love will hurt you back, its as predictable as gravity. And at 13, it will happen. Its unfortunate. I should imagine the same will happen to you what happened to me.
Circumstance that are out of your hands with change things. I dunno, your parents more, she moves school, even different classes make a difference. Or she goes on holiday meets someone else, theres a million different things that can happen. For me...she moved, and i was devestated!
Regardless of all the bad stuff that can happen with love, theres a million and one good things that can also happen. All these experiences take time to understand and learn from. Even for the likes of us adults mate!
The choice you make now, is entirley yours. You can carry on loving her and being boyfriend and girlfriend theres nothing wrong with that. All im saying is, try not to be blinded by the belief that she'll be your one and only love.
Above all though, dont wish yourself older than you are. Believe me, youll turn 30, and wish you were 13 again!

The only way we learn about love is by giving it a go. And that means experiencing both the joy and disappointment that is part and parcel of love. Nobody has ever truly understood love without experiencing pain.
If you go into a relationship but hold back from fear you won't really learn much at all except how to be half hearted. Repeat experiences like this and you will become like so many othe rhalf hearted guys that make some girl unhappy.
I fell in love at your age and my biggest regret is not overcoming the fear of rejection and giving myself to a relationship.

I fl in love with Mr Cat 16 years ago when I was 15 and we are now getting married BUT we did split up a few times inbetween, and we are very different people now, we are just lucky we are still people that each other loves. (did that make sense? lol)
I hate when people tell teenagers that they arent 'really' in love or they dont know what it really feels like, of course you do. Thats how we learn about experiences in life.
Have fun, be careful and dont rush into anything (and yes, by that I mean sex lol) x

Thanks everybody, I think that I'm going to give this a shot.
Actually I don't need to worry about one of us moving, its a long distance relationship. I know it's weird to fall in love with a girl I've never met, but she is all I can ever think about and I think that with a little work we can stay together until I'm old enough to move to her state myself.
