OK so I was budgeting around 1.5k but realised you cant get much for that so I have found this which seems like anamazing deal:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Certified-Diamond-Soli taire-Engagement-Platinum/dp/B001HO4BYE/ref=sr _1_11?ie=UTF8&s=watch&qid=1236093229&sr=8-11

What do you think? I mean the diamond is slightly included and near colourless. will it be ok on platinum or do you think I should go for colourless. They are s expensive though :( would this ring make you happy?

that is a lovely ring. I;d like something small and simple doesnt matter how much it costs and the fiance should never know or ask anyway. Its about commitment to them not money. I'd be saving all the money I could for the wedding
It is very nice but I have to agree with 4getmenot. It isn't about how much the ring costs and if you are getting married, you need every penny you can get!

I wouldn't dare wear a 2.5K ring anyway, I would be petrified of losing it or the stone falling out or something!

well the wedding is going to be a very very simple ceremony in Sri Lanka. My mums doesnt have much time left so we are going to get married in her room out there. So I cant say the wedding will cost much at all! Plus my girlfriend doesnt like jewelery she has only ever wanted to wear 1 diamond.... and she wants 1 carat
Question Author
ya cheekychops I agree but you can get insurance right?
but wouldnt you want the actual wedding ring to cost more? As I said not about money at all and I;m sure with your mum not having long left you can understand its not
Traditionally, the engagement ring was meant to be the equivalent of one months wages. But I don't think that many people would do that these days, there are more important things we all need money for and it's the sentimental value that counts.
That is a gorgeous ring. It would make me very happy if my man bought that for me. I love platinum!!
I never had one and I never wanted one either.

It's a lovely ring, if you can afford it. A ring can't make you happy though
but wouldnt you be thinking of all the things that could be bought with that money that would be of use like a car or things for the marital home or just to put in savings angel
Ladies, have any of you heard of "kissing diamonds", google it I think they are beautiful!
It's very nice, similar to mine. Is it certified as well?
the ring is beautiful she'll love it!
Well it does seem a lot of money but I don't know how much people spend on rings these days? I think its only a one off occasion anyway so no harm in splashing out a bit.
ooohh kissing diamonds are gorgeous. They have one just like the one on Amazon but can't see a price

angel I totally agree. its something she will keep for the rest of her life (i hope).
Im getting white gold wedding rings though.

I already told her I am getting her 1 carat any way
dare I?
it does look lovely, a nice simple ring.
But google SI1 clarity, im not sure if it was ever an 8k ring at a bargain.

Id also go and look at rings rather than buy off the net.
but wont she keep the wedding one. If you agree why are you asking us. Yes its lovely buy it.
Yes angel I think they are lovely, and the whole "no price tag" thing , I would assume mean they cost an absolute fortune!

poltergeist - you might want to check if the ring is platinum whether a white gold ring next to it will be ok, I heard before that some metals don't "mix" as such
If she wants a 1 carat diamond it is a lovely ring but I would go mad if my boyfriend spent that much on me! I would much prefer to have a cheaper but nice ring out of the Argos book or from Samuels lol! then would like to go on a luxury holiday with the 'left over' money!
