We got married on a Monday and Mr LL went back on night shift on the Tuesday night. We had a rented house with no furniture except for a bed, a couple of old chest of drawers donated by my Mum and an over. No fridge, no washing machine, no carpets, no curtains.
Anyway, we survived and I still love the man (even though we fight like cat and dog)!!

we too had a very small wedding, a registry office do, 20 guests at a sit down meal, i was 24, he was 21 (yes he'smy toy boy and very grateful i am) and a disco in the evening which we missed as we were otherwise engaged!!!
speaking of engaged, we didn't even bother, just started saving up and got married when we found a house to buy. everyone though i was pregnant - i wasn't .
i think 17 is far too young to get engaged. when i think of what i was like at 17 and then at 25 there is a million miles difference. doesn't matter where the ring is purchased, it's the very, very young age. but....... we all know everything at 17 don't we????

...however, this brings up an interesting point. I have always believed eternity rings mean that - eternity - so often women are given them when the first child is born, I had mine on my 7th anniversary. When I lived in the Midlands, the local habit (as rachael suggests) was that girls wore enternity rings BEFORE the engagement, to indicate that although there were no wedding plans, they had a commitment to their boyfriend. I'd never heard of this before - I guess from what rachael says, this does still happen?
