Is your partner romantic? Mine isn't
51 Answers
I've been with my boyfriend for 4 months now. He still lives at home with his parents and I still live at home with mine. We don't get much of a chance to be alone and when we do, we obviously relish any opportunity to have jiggy jiggy.
He has never done anything romantic for me at all though. He never tells me I look nice, he just comments on my boobs or bum really. He doesn't hold my hand very often either. Does romance develop over time? or do you think the fact we can't be alone very often hinders the romance?
I don't want to drop hints because I don't want him to be forced into doing things he doesn't want to.

He opens doors for me, walks on the path nearest to the road so I do not have to, carries my bags, walks into town to walk me home if I have been out, tells me he loves me all the time, cooks for me every night. He is awesome and I tell him often.

Mine does all those things too except for the cooking bit. He also works to support me, works hard in the house and garden, has always been a loyal and trusted partner and friend, a brilliant father, etc etc. Surely they are normal things - nothing to do with being romantic. It does not always follow that some overly romantic people make the best partners, they often take their overly romantic attentions elsewhere.
I am the least tactile person I know so cuddling etc I find annoying. But he does so many other things for me. He has looked after me pretty much non stop for the last year or so whilst I have been having trouble with my health and never once complained at how awkward I am. The things he does for me every day shows me how much he cares for me and I would want him any other way.
mercia, sounds like you've got the perfect man.
Jayne, we can't afford to stay in a hotel just yet but maybe when we've saved enough money. Although, I think my parents will be cross about me staying away overnight with my man so I may have to lie.
I don't think a week is too soon to sleep with someone, especially cause I saw him for a few hours everyday. Don't know how one of you waited till 5 months!

That was me. It was easy to wait 5 months. We've known each other since we were 5 and sex would have ruined a good friendship had we done it too soon. We, mainly I, had to be sure of my feelings because I never wanted to hurt my mate. I fell in love with him first....
Lofty....he is a big kid. He'd be annoying if he wasn't so hilarious. When he comes home from work it's laughter time :-)

Mr Mercia sounds good to me... but there's no right and wrong on this, just a matter of what suits. If dolly wants demonstrations of affection and bf doesn't do that sort of thing, then dolly will have to decide if his good points outweigh the bad points. It's not being superficial or unreasonable to decide that a man isn't meeting your needs.
