The holidays are coming, the holidays are coming... Are you going to give yourself a break over Christmas or keep the good work going?
Hmmmm what to do mince pies, roast dinners and drinking on the one hand or everything in moderation on the other!

Just thought I'd drop in to let you all know the op went well and I was very surprised when the hospital let me go home after two days so was home friday afternoon! Have suffered a bit since with the pain which got worse and by this morning was really struggling as the plaster had started to rub the back of my leg. Ended up in A&E this afternoon and had to have a large...

Hello all and well done, seems like the naughty step will be very empty this week. Really don't know how I have done but have been very good and written everything down and will continue to do so until Christmas Day when I will be allowing myself some treats. Going to the hospital tomorrow to have a permanent plaster put on now the swelling has gone down and also collect the ultrasound machine my Consultant wants me to try. Apparently I have to use it for 20 minutes a day and it helps the bones fuse together so hoping for a good result this time. I'm sure it is getting difficult for us all now with all this lovely christmas food about but hope we can all be reasonably good. Best of luck for next week.
Hi Jan, It's good to hear from you and that your good humour is where it should be. You said you were going to have a permanent plaster put on. For how long will that be?
Like you and I expect everybody I am looking forward to the Christmas goodies. I made my stuffing today and the house smells lovely.
Pls keep us informed of your progress and as you can see you are in our thoughts.

Great to hear you are doing well Jan. I stayed the same this week which I am more than happy with as I had a couple of meals out and also did a lot of baking which of course I had to sample before giving away. Also couldn't resist the Christmas sweetie bowl. Will need to try and be extra good this week or I will be gaining too much over the holidays. Another Christmas dinner tonight. :( Congratulations to everyone for doing so well this week.
Hi xstitcher. Permanent plaster is going to be on till 14th Jan and will be non weight-bearing till then. They will then see if I can manage with a walking plaster for another 6 weeks and then hopefully it will be able to come off so really looking at the end of Feb. Not really sure how long it will be before we know if op has been a success but hoping it won't be long after that. Thanks again everyone for thinking of me.
Getting most of my shopping delivered and a friend is getting the rest for me. She also brings me a meal every sunday and the rest of the time I am living on ready meals or tinned food, although I have been making sure I have been eating lots of fruit in between and have my cereal or porridge in the morning. Thank god for the microwave!
(((Hugs))) to Jan - you're doing really well there. Thank goodness for the microwave, its a life saver isn't it. Its suprising what you can do to ring the changes and if nothing else there's always the old favourite microwave meals of jacket potatoes, scrambled eggs and beans.
Well done everyone, an empty naughty step for Christmas will be worth celebrating. Here's to next week!

Thanks Maidup and xstitcher. Frozen jacket potatoes have been a lifesaver, 5 minutes in the microwave and they're done, as you say with beans or scrambled egg, also done in the microwave. Anyway early night for me as hospital in the morning and hopefully a full plaster so will feel a bit more secure. :-)
Thank goodness I'm not about to be the first one on the naughty step! I have stayed the same this week, which, actually, I'm delighted about. I hope to keep it steady till the beginning of January, then back on it with a vengeance in preparation for my jolly to Tenerife mid February. I think it would be impossible to resist all the Christmas goodies on offer - let's face it, if we could resist the temptation, there would be no need for this thread in the first place, would there? By the way, I'm going to a party tonight, and I'm wearing clothes that I couldn't get into three months ago, so I'm very happy :-)
Yes Lynda it is impossible to resist these temptations. For the lead up I have been having a few things in moderation and same as you I am going back to my healthy eating after the new year. And that is very true what you said that there would be no need for this thread if we could resist these temptations. Merry Xmas.
Oh dear, I've been out this evening for a meal and managed reasonably well, but did give in to ice cream and a mince pie. I was going to try to resist all treats until next week, but I didn't want to spoil the evening by being a complete party pooper. I resisted the alcohol (as I was driving) and had a very light lunch of soup so it could have been worse!
How's everyone else coping in this pre-Christmas week?

Since I have been having some extensive dental work done it hasn't been hard to not eat too much but have still caved in to things I would otherwise not had a problem with.
I think that the best rule is to try and keep the amounts of what we have over Christmas down. Have a good think before you open your mouth.....do I really want this???
I for one will be skipping over the weigh in on the 25 Dec. because our Christmas is held on the 24th but actually begins on the 23rd at one of our children's homes who will be away for Christmas. I shall be here to say hello but not to weigh in which would ruin my Christmas dinner on the 24th.
