Hello all,
A very happy New year to all our Onwards and Downwards crew. I hope you all had a lovely time over Christmas and let yourselves have a treat now and then. I expect we shall gain a few more members this months, well the more the merrier I say.
We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.
Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Thankyou Ab Editor and a happy new year to you.
The winter vomiting bug - I lost over half a stone in 2 days!!
But not reccomended.....
Serious note, I feel I need a major de-tox after the last couple of weeks!
2 pints of water minimum daily, 3 meals a day, plenty of protein and frsh fruit and veg. 3 gym sessions a week including cardio, light weights and swimming. Main thing for me is consistency and remaining strict. I always find that once I see the gains I am making, it encourages me to keep at it. Nothing worse than maximum effort and seeing no changes...

Happy New Year, everyone! New Years Resolution #1 - to reach target weight by summer. New Years Resolution #2 - not to beat myself up if I have the odd lapse. And lapse I did over the Christmas break, with way too much chocolate, cheese and red wine.
I'd invite others to join me on the naughty step, but my bum's way too big and there isn't room! x

Hi everyone and Happy New Year
Welcome back Tigger and hello to all new folk and regulars alike. (Hello to Jan- if you're looking in and all good wishes to you)
I've built a couple of new naughty steps as I've filled one all by myself!
Thanks fully I only gained a couple of pounds over Christmas, but it feels like much more on my waistline. I was at my lightest on Christmas Eve having worked hard all year to lose weight but the trousers I wore that day were a quite tight when i went to put them on this morning!
I did indulge in a few chocolates and a little too much cheese (my real weekness) and a few drinks. But I managed to give stuff away and not buy anything too bad until OH was given a big box of chocci biscuits which I can't deprive him of. If it's his I can walk past it and resist, except he keeps offering to share! Bless him.
So back to ryvita, salad and extra light philly for lunch and I'll feel better in no time. I lost 2 1/2 stone in 2012 and need to do that amount again and more, so a long way to go yet.
Onwards and downwards.

Welcome newyes and hi to the rest. It's good to "see" so many smiling faces at our first meeting of the year.
Due to some shortbread that tastes as good as my mother's used to I am carrying 2 pounds more than I was before Christmas......it is now banished from my sight and will leave it to my OH to pig out with.

Hi Anniebar, welcome! you just join in. (I'm sorry I asked you Daffy, I was just being nosey. I also had been 8 and a half stone all my adult life, and I'm also 5ft 4in. I'm 9st 10 at the mo, but wanted to get down to 9 and a half stone. I don't want to go back any lower. I suit a size 12 now.) Anniebar, we don't have to say what weight we are, we just say how much we've lost/gained each Wednesday. I'm sorry if my question to Daffy gave you the impression that we're generally nosey. This is a lovely bunch of people who don't usually ask personal questions.
