Onwards and Downwards Continues in February 2013
Hello all,
Welcome to February, I hope that those of you who were on a strict post Christmas diet have had some great results, and relaxed just a little.
Look out just around the corner is Valentine's Day! Save the chocs and dinner out and spend the money on a spa day or movie evening with the OH instead. Any other ideas?
We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.
Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

I know the feeling LYnda; sometimes the harder you try the less you shift. I got "stuck " for a couple of weeks after Christmas not lossing anything much and I think its down to the weather. Our bodies holding on to it for warmth! Try a change of menu. If you're eating similar meals on a regular basis see if you can think of something different. We're trying sweet...

Welcome Evian, Like you I found out to my dismay many years ago that I didn't like a lot of the food that was good for me. Tuna was one of them but I have gotten over that. Wendilla and I praise chicken and fish. You can do a lot with chicken...You can also Google Low fat meals and see what comes up. I use that a lot for ideas. I wish you lots of luck.
Well done Ratter and Evian!! I've stayed exactly the same. I don't mind though, as I was expecting an increase. I have been going without breakfast for a couple of weeks, as I can get to work on time if I skip it. I'm not sure that it's a good idea though. Can anyone recommend something I can eat on the way to work? (I can't get out of bed early in winter - I love my bed too much)
Hi notafish not a good idea to miss breakfast as this could cause you to eat the wrong things if you get hungry before lunchtime. The only thing I can suggest are those breakfast bars can't remeber what they are called never tried them but they have different varieties in the supermarkets. Maybe others may have ideas.
Hi - I'd like to introduce myself - age 53 (female) and according to Weight Watchers and all the BMI charts, at 5'6" my top weight should be 11st 1. I've not been that weight since I had my boys - my eldest just turned 25. I've been to weight Watchers on and off over the years and my weight has yoyo'd. About two years ago I hit my top weight of 16 stone, and managed to get back down to 13 (it was affecting my health).
I backslid last year and this Christmas was at 13 10. I restarted WW three weeks ago and have managed ot get back down to 13 stone 3. I would be happy to get to 12 stone really - I'm not sure how close I could get to the ideal weight.
I do like the WW system - it's just hard to stick to it long term and I get bored after a while and gradually fall back into old habits. Let's hope this time I can keep to a reasonable level and develop good habits.

Hi, Like OG says your diet sounds like it needs to be a bit more varied. We all get in the "same old" mode I think. You have been able to loose before so it's not the will and discipline that is wrong. Believe me we all have these back slides and I find them so hard to crawl out of. I think the best motivator for me is the mirror!!! :-(
taichiperson, Hi and welcome, This is my first ever diet, im managing ok and pleased with results so far, my weight loss has slowed a bit but it is still coming off slowly. Good luck with your programme. I think im quite fortunate that I love fish, so almost living on fish is suiting me and my diet quite well, just a bit pricey though.
I need some help.
I'm struggling to get my head around the green, red and extra easy options.
I'd planned on yesterday being Red so for lunch I had (loads of) grilled chicken in a wholemeal role, crisps (for syns) and a muller light. Then for dinner had a chicken and mushroom pasta n sauce. Then I checked and realised that the pasta n sauce has an enormous amount of syns on a red day so looked at my pack and it seems like all that was ok for an extra easy day.
So I could count my role as my one B choice and as I didn't have any other B choices by that point it was ok?
Is that right or have I fluffed up?

Not wishing to encourage folk away from here but whilst there may be a WW follower nil our group somewhere (I've not paid that much attention) there is, or at least was, a WW forum site on the net where they may be more knowledgeable. http:// www.wei ghtwatc hers.co .uk/com munity/ mbd/ind ex.aspx
Generally speaking though, if you have doubts about one day, I'd suggest just letting it go as a slip, and carry on from where you left off. As long as you aren't slipping up every other day the occasional lapse won't be a problem.

It does not matter what group you go to they are out to make money it is only you as the individual that can do it .Yes if you are well overweight you will lose quite a bit the first 2 to 3 weeks you join these groups but after that it is a struggle. It is all down to healthy eating having the odd treat and varying your meals . If you plan out your meals for the week you won't stray and this will help if you write down everyday towards you next weeks shop. I am lucky I live on my own but it is not so easy for people with families. I know that as when my grandchildren come I have treats and find myself having too. If you allow yourself a treat once a week you won't get so bored.
Welcome TAICHIPERSON. I think you just need to plan ahead plenty of fish and chicken meals and veg.

Hi everyone and welcome to the new posters this week. Its good to meet you all and I wish you every success in your new eating regimes.
I did weigh on Wednesday but I had no time to post until now; and I'm delighted to have lost another 1lb. That's despite having a birthday party to attend at the weekend. I'm finally seeing a me that can enjoy a birthday party or a meal out but get back on track the next day rather than letting it send me back to my old habits for days on end.
I'm also delighted to have "best answer" on this month's thread! Thanks Ed, I feel like Miss february :) lol
To those of you who are a bit stuck, chin up. Have a chat with yourself, buy a bunch of daffs to cheer your mood and swap the naughties for a bag of lovely English pears or a pineapple. You've done it before, you can do it now.
(Just incase its confusing and my user name shows as Maydup, I was previously known as Maidup) Onwards and Downwards everyone.

Hi all, I intend to return on Wednesday. Haven't weighed myself but reckon I may have put on 6 or 7 lbs over the last few weeks. I have just been eating rubbish as and when. My nephew passed away on Sunday. I will be away on Tuesday and Wednesday but on my return I intend to weigh in and get stuck back in to the diet again. Hopefully!
Well, I'm please to announce that I've done it! Ive lost another 3lbs this week, yes I've been super strict but I really really wanted to lose it before I went away. I have now lost 3st, hopefully I won't put too much of it back on while I'm away. See you all in a couple of weeks, be good while I'm gone?
