Onwards And Downwards Continues In April 2013

Hello all,
I heard the other day that fat-free salad dressing is one of the biggest "No No's" you can eat, mainly because of all the extra stuff they put in to replace the fat!
So as we are almost heading into salad season (even if the weather doesn't quite agree yet) how about some low calorie salad dressing recipies or even some interesting salads that might not need dressing?
We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.
Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Thanks Wendilla. I bet you will have lost a pound by next Wednesday. You're so determined, and you're a brilliant support to everyone on here... so give yourself some of that support :-)

A little less than a pound down for me this morning, happy with that all things considered. Now the holiday is over I must get back on track for some proper weight loss. Its about a year since i joined you all here on O &D. I've lost a total of three stone in that year which i'm thrilled about, but I still have a way to go yet. Onward and downward everyone.
Stayed the same again which I am surprised about but I have been half good but had bad eating habits over the weekend with sunday dinner at my daughters. Now the weather is perking up a bit I have no more excuses so it's Onwards and Downwards to next week.
Well done Maydup I did not realise either how much you had last in a year.
OG you need to get off that naughty step for next week.

Cheers. It's not just the fish, although I have to say it is the oily ones that tempt me rather than the white: but bake a mackerel or herring and it is a fair chunk of a day's allowance. I ought to be able to fit it in though. But I shall consider trying to find a smoked white option. (I did have a smoked haddock one day last week, but whilst pleasant, it's not the same somehow.)
I think part of my problem is coming home ravenous from work and not being able to find the willpower to wait until something's cooked.
It doesn't help when I do things like last weekend when I treated myself to a pack of 2 scones. No nutritional info on the pack but I found them on the Web after having one and the result shook me somewhat. Ruined yesterday's total. (That said I did have one and THEN check where I was, only to find I'd reached target beforehand. I really ought to know better.)
Thing is I can see my normal pattern is to have 1/6th of my allowance for breakfast, 1/6th for lunch, 1/2 in the evening, and find I've frittered away the remaining 1/6th during the morning and afternoon. I just need to get a tighter rein on it, know where I am before deciding what to do next.

Well done Smow. My homemade soup turned out to be more calorific than expected. That'll trust me to go by a recipe without checking it first. (Rather more fat in it than it really needed.) Didn't help I got fewer bowls worth out than expected either. Means I'm having another high cal soup lunch today.
Woops, haven't posted for a while - still going downwards :) I've lost just about a stone since mid January. The weight loss has slowed to a crawl, but my clothes are starting to hang instead of stretch - soon I'll have to buy new clothes!
Re mackerel - it will be high value food as it has high levels of protein and fat, as does most fish. That's not a bad thing, as you need plenty of protein when you're dieting (I hate that word, let's call it losing weight). It makes you feel more satisfied, and the fat is good - we are told to take fish oils for our health, and pay for capsules etc; here you have it in its natural form :)
