Hello all,
Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.
So Spring is officially here with March and hopefully we can all spend a bit more time out of doors :-).
So what is good to eat in Spring? Apparently, seafood like sardines, mackerel, salmon and oysters. Here are a couple of simple easy and above all healthy fish recipes:

This looks yummy and easy I might try it :-)

Also good this months are purple sprouting broccoli, cabbage, celeriac and chicory.

After 12 months on this low carb diet, that seems to be flexible, my waist is now 36, down 8 inches! My trousers are now hipsters, not Simon Cowellers!

No gainers so far then. That's good.
Wish I was down to 36".
Anyway, I must eat more pizza. Had the first for ages Monday when I had a visitor who wished to stay in and watch "Midwife" so ordered a delivery. And yet due to another sudden Wednesday weighing drop, I'm down for the week. -1lb. I recommend pizza for weight loss. Especially if you pick a supplier simply because they do a particular type, and then, mid-order, they say they are out of the main ingredient and you have to pick something less virtuous.

I've been following this Low Carb diet... http:// authori tynutri tion.co m/low-c arb-die t-meal- plan-an d-menu/
I told myself last spring NO bread, biscuits or booze, NO pies, pastries, potatoes or durum wheat pasta. I found some great corn/maize alternatives to durum wheat in pasta and with tuna or salmon replacing mince, the sauces have been excellent...then last week I was tempting fate, I tried normal pasta in a lasagne: I still lost less than a kilo! Go figure!
Exercise has been less and less, 5 years after retiring...until 6 months ago, when an exercise bike has been my primary reason for continuing with this weight loss regime. To be at my working weight of 15 years ago is amazing.

Thanks, xs. I do 3 x 20 minutes exercise per day on the bike and its not flat-out cycling...I gently increase my cadence to about 100 on the Pulse reading. Mind you, I'm not sure I should trust the bike computer: It told me my body-fat is 15% and my BMI is 19.5! I might agree the former, but the latter is is most definitely 23.7 BMI!
The best all-round exercise is swimming, but not everyone has the facilities near to benefit. The next best exercise machine for losing weight and keeping fit is the treadmill. You can save money just walking, though.

Surprisingly, last time I tried to lose weight I found a daily quick walk seemed to help. These days though, I'm older, and when I get back from work I'm feeling more like eating then bed than rushing off on a rapid constitutional. I guess a little exercise helps, but I never tell folk to depend on large changes from increasing output.
Jomlett, you have inspired me to try harder too. I need to lose another couple of pounds to get to BMI of 23. I have been really good with food this past couple of weeks, but not much exercise. It's always sooo hard for me to lose the last two pounds, but I'm going to be more active from today.
Thanks Xstitcher for the recipes :-). This is always such a lovely thread thanks to all the wonderful supportive members.

Morning all. I've been stuck over here on the naughty stop for a couple of weeks now and sadly there is no chance of moving off today either!
We had a number of events around a special family celebration at the beginning of the month and each one involved eating too much! A good time was had by all but once more its taken sometime to get back on track. Its frightening how one long weekend and a few meals out the following week can cost me so many pounds.
The evil sweet tooth is with me day and night again, but catching up with all your posts this morning has really helped renew my determination. Off to make a salad to take with me for lunch! Keep up the good work everyone.
