In view of this and other such incidents, plus the calls for a nation wide ban on the burka falling on deaf ears, I wonder if for security reasons it would be lawful for banks, shops, travel agents etc to ban anyone wearing a burka from entering their premises?

certain places have banned people from wearing hoodies inside, so I do not see why burkas shouldn't be banned. For one, if we went into their countries with certain parts of the body showing, for example shoulders, legs, we would be arrested. I am not sure whether or not they have religious meaning as such, as after speaking to someone, covering oneself is not mentionned in the holy book, it's just a tradition. x
Gromit, there were law abiding customers in the shop, I am not saying ban Asian women, just the Burka. This is not the first time Burka have been used to commit crimes same as hoodies- which are banned in certain shops. If the Burka were part of the Islam religion then so be it, but it is not, it is worn by choice
France has, but its virtually unenforceable, a billionaire businessman offered to pay any fines these women get if they are caught.
Pixi which means you don't now. For my part i see it as divisive and unnatural, this is a western society just about, and don't see the wearing of it as anything other than saying we are separate, and will remain so.
just my opinion, that's all.

completely agree with you Joeluke. Helmets and hoodies have been banned because of crimes being committed with them, so why shouldn't burka's? people are too afraid to speak up about it because it will be seen as an attack on the religion, whereas it's not! As already said, wearing the Burka's are not part of the religion, it is choice,
