cheque found for substantial amount earlier this week in my deceased husband belongings dated 2003 made out to our joint account can it still be produced?

It's possible the cheque was temporarily lost/misplaced and the sender reissued one which was cashed/paid in

I thought a cheque became invalid after 6 months, you would need to contact the drawer and ask them if they'd reissue it, but they might not :-(

thanks boxtops, but the amount is such, that it couldn't have gone unnoticed. also, have googled the the drawer and they are still in business so shall ring tomorrow.
