Paid In Cheque Not Showing Up
20 Answers
I paid a cheque into a Barclays business account on Monday. I've just looked at the account online and it isn't showing up at all.
Normally when I pay cheques in they will show on the day I pay them in, although obviously not as cleared funds.
Has something changed?

Poor lad was really upset, until it was explained to him that she could write a new one.
There was no apology until I went to see the branch manager.

The girl I was talking to in the back looked like she was on the verge of tears when she realised what happened so I didn't push it. They told me there was no way they could make it clear any faster, all the could do was cancel it and for me to ask the customer to pay again by bank transfer. As it was only two days I decided not to hassle my customer and just got them to pay it in straight away.
Funny thing is they always try and get you to use the little letter box things for paying in cheques but I've always been sceptical about them, I'd rather wait in a queue and get the cashiers stamp. I'll definitely stick with that now, might have been a lot harder to solve if I didn't have proof I paid it in.

They don't have machines at ours, just little metal post boxes you put an envelope in.
They said we'd be refunded any charges that may occur as a result of the funds not being cleared but I don't think I'll bother with a complain letter this time. I'm sure the cashier has learnt the error of her ways.
