The neighbours have a party just getting into swing. (They are actually swingers, but this is not 'one if those' parties.) They have invited me round....
Now folks, this is a dilemma cos I really love a good party. But, as some of you know, I am one week post-major-op, a bit delicate, on painkillers and my middle bit swaddled in dressings. I will not have the willpower to refuse alcohol (I mean come on, I'm ill but not on my death bed).
Look you can stay here and advise people who are he'll bent on self destruction, or go to a party next door - so can easily decamp as and when you want to. Kind of no brainer.
Are you supposed to be avoiding alcohol? If so, then I wouldn't go (if you really can't resist temptation!) if you are allowed to drink, then go and ask for a seat in the sun and put your feet up. Take it easy though :-)
Don't sally if you think temptation would get you.....I had a gall bladder op and the Doc gave me the permission to have a drink next night, unfortunately it was one of my bro-in-laws US style G&Ts (but going for a weaker one)....very nice it was too but one almost did me in - the strangest feeling, I must say. However, I did manage dinner, avoiding the vino on offer.
Mmmmmmm, will see what the Captain has to say. He's due at mine any moment now. He can come with me and monitor my alcohol consumption and drag me away if need be. He's soooooo strict. :-)
DT, couldn't agree more. The problem is, if Salla has too many of those methylated spirits, she may end up in next doors hot tub... and we all know where that will lead!! lol
Salla, if The Captain is going with you, you'll be fine. You deserve a break.
Really you shouldn't go. But if you really want to go to keep up appearances and not be a party pooper etc. you should go, find somewhere to sit preferably with your feet up and get someone to refill your glass very occasionally, and bring you small titbits to eat. Don't start twisting and dancing, and aim to spend only a couple of hours there or until it gets boring.
