I have a flat I rent out in Sutton Surrey. It has been empty for a couple of months do I pay council tax on the empty period?

Thanks I will have to plough through all the jargon
I know - each Council has its slight differences in how they apply the rulings.
Up here in Northumberland, I got 6 months of no council tax and then had to pay a small % of tax until my house was sold.
You pay 50% council tax on a empty property.
As in the link supplied by Mamyalynne you pay 50% unless the property is one of the exempt categories, as your flat is empty just waiting for a tenant you have to pay 50%.
By the way my brother is the senior housing finance manager for Sutton so that is straight from the horses mouth!
