I have a hypothetical question that was bugging my girlfriends and I. One of our group is a housewife who has a monthly allowance from her husband. Each week she gives him money to buy her lottery ticket for her. If she won, would he have a claim on it? By the way knowing her, she would give at least half if not all of it to him if she did win but we were wondering where she would stand legally. Many thanks in advance.
I think that whoever puts their name and adress in the space on the back of the ticket has the legal right to the money. If you follow you arguement through logically you are suggesting that the person who has paid for the ticket is the ownwer of the money, right? i dont think that can work because what if i bought my lottery ticket with the money that my bank gave me in interest, would that mean the win would be theirs?
Thank you Kazza & Twiglet. Your answers are pretty much what we thought but it's great to have a 2nd. opinion. Much appreciated. Now all she has to do is win the thing - and remember her friends!
