One could almost believe that our Prime Minister and his wife were paying an overseas visit to the sub continent, but no one would be wrong, this is Gravesend, Kent, UK.

One has to ask why do our dignities have to dress up in Sikh costume etc, do Sikhs remove their turban etc. and dress in Western clothes when taking part in our celebrations?

Dave and Sam were showing proper respect whilst visiting a Sikh Temple. Surely you would approve of people showing respect?

Is wearing a turban during 'our celebrations' (whatever they may be) disrespectful?
How would you recognise a Protestant from the way they dressed?

you can't - but you must have noticed the distinctive walk used by orangemen - you know the one, like they're holding a postcard between the cheeks of their bum.....
Yes, but in that case the turban doesn't make a difference, svejk...

Like it or not, there is a more diverse Britain today than a generation ago. I don't think it's unreasonable for Prime Ministers to respect that.

You open a morris-dancing club in Karachi.
You are honoured with a visit from the president.
And you say, 'Here's your hat, son, and there's your bells'
Go on, try it.
LOL @ mushroom .

SVEJK, Morris dancers are hardly held in high esteem in England, let alone abroad.
^Racist!
My wife never wears a head scarf but she always has one in her bag when we go on in a trip in case we go in to a Catholic church, mosque or other religious place. It's simply being respectful.
Are you asking if the Sikh ladies join our celebrations by wearing skimpy clothes, getting rat-arsed, having a shag round the back of Rackhams then vomiting in to the gutter?
I suppose some might.

The Orange Sash is a dead giveaway
sandyRoe, I am a protestant as a Church of England Christian. I find your comment unsavoury, I do not associate myself with the Orange men and women.
Apologies. The propinquity of Orangemen/Protestants has coloured my views.
Many of my relations are in the Lodge but when they are out and about you'd not know.

Thank you, Sandy :)
Showing respect is a good thing to do.

It is just good manners, sadly lacking in many, old and young.
