Hi All. I have today mistakenly paid an ex employee - the bank say they may not be able to retrieve it. What can I do if I cannot retrieve the money from him?

If the bank is unable to get your money back and the recipient refuses to pay it back then the only option is the small claims procedure in the county court.

Wups. I agree with the other posts. Banks are not always able to retrieve any payment made in error which only leaves your ex employee to be honest and repay it to you.
Contact your ex-employee as soon as possible. He's legally obliged to return it to you but the longer you wait the more excuse he has to say "I didn't notice it and I've spent it. I'll pay you back at £1 per week".
