i am apllying for several loans and grants for university but i cannot find an explanation of what a maintenance grant is. does anyone know? all help appreciated x

isn't it a grant that is there to help with living expenses in general and isn't tied to any specific expenses? I would imagine you wouldn't need to repay it either.
