can you post cheque to bank?

I have received a cheque but with no bank in the near vicinity it will cost me �2 to get to my nearest branch of Natwest. My question is, can I post the cheque to Natwest instead of handing it at a branch?

Yes you can. They would prefer it to be accompanied with a paying in slip.

You could also pay it in at another bank (not nat west) but that bank would charge you for doing so.

Thanks dzug. I dont have a paying slip. How will they know its me? Should I send them a photocopy of my passport page or something? aaarrrgh!!!!

Just attach a covering letter - please pay this cheque into my **** account, sort code number *****, account number ******.

You can post it to your local branch - I post all my cheques like this.

The cheque is made out to you, so there will not be a problem.

They don't really care WHO is paying it in - they just need sort code and account number. It's just that a paying in slipmakes it easier and less prone to error, not that it's impossible without.

My nearest branch is about half an hour walk so I'll have to find the strength and stamina to get there tomorrow lol
