If 135,000 lands in your bank account
In the news today a Woman went to the cash point to find 135,000 in her bank account that wasent hers.
She blew most of it in weeks.
Would you do the same?
I would, I think if its their mistake then its tough.
Instead of blowing it all on holidays and plasma screens, I would transfer the lot over to another bank then if they asked for it back then you could have a few quid interest from their mistake before giving it back.
I dont think the lady should be in court over this. Its all wrong.

Did she really beleive a good samaritan had deposited the money in her account and it was meant for her - or didn't she stop to consider that it might have been an error , and to make enquires with her bank?
Idiot is the word I am looking for .

I'd have the decency to mention it to the bank (as I have done when they've accidently missed taking 300 out of my account - i'd transferred 500 and only 200 showed on the account)
She knew it wasn't hers but still spent it...no different to if she'd thieved it herself.
Nice to see there are some honest people in our society....

Its wrong because the banks are laughing at us all. We have no choice but to have our wages put into a bank account (no pay packets). The banks wait a couple of days to let you have your money which they make a load off your earnings thank you very much. They coin it off us all the time. We dont want to use a bank, we have no choice.
You think the bank is your friend. Sorry, they are a business. If you had a quote from a service and they charged you 200 less. Would you be on the phone telling them the error. No chance.
Never ever feel sorry for the banks. They are out to screw you with a smile on their face. Power to the people.
If this woman had a descent laywer she would have walked away from it all.

I would have realised straight away that it was an error & wasn't my money! I would have informed the bank as soon as I'd noticed it.
This woman shouldn't have gone on a spending spree, but I don't think she should go to prison either - what would that acheive.
It's a one off & she should be made to refund the bank, even if at only a tenner a week - they are partly to blame after all & should be brought to account too -pardon the pun.

A lot of people will agree that banks are out to 's%rew' their customers for as much as they can get - however i dont see the relevance of the points you are making in this case
I might not like my neighbour , but if he came into my house and dropped his wallet , I wouldn't keep it - i would return it without taking anything

The 135.000 was obviously meant to be paid into someones account and it is this person you are taking the money from.......not the bank. Imagine the feelings of this person to be 135.000 down thro' no fault of their own and then to discover that the bank had paid their money into someone else's account and instead of the recipient notifying the bank of their error....they immediately go off out on a spending spree!! Unbelievable...how, in their wildest dreams could anyone think that they could get away with that. Barmy!!!!!
I must admit I really hated this criminals face as depicted in the Daily Mail.

She is posing with her brat which is also scowling and they both have a look that they think they have been hard done by to find themselves in court.
I am surprsied that the DM is apparently on the side of this thieving dishonest scumbag, they are usually anti theft where the working classes are concerned.
I would not do the same. If the bank closed your account and you found yourself blacklisted with every other bank due to your own dishonesty, you would be moaning like **** .
And I repeat, she has a scowling horrible face.

The reason for putting her is prison is fairly simple - she broker the law and also cannot afford to repay the debt. If they just gave here a slap on the wrist, if this happened in future no one would give it back - they would keep the money.
And Karlpeg - no a decent lawyer could not have got her off - she broke the law and must suffer the consequences.
If you found a Ferrari in the street outside your house with the keys in it, would you think it abandoned and take it and then sell it? This is what she has done.
She absolutely knew that this wasn't her money. She then spent it. Sorry, but no sympathy from me.

It's theft - pure and simple. It clearly wasn't hers to keep and should have mentioned it to the bank.
I seem to remember hearing of a similar story a while back where someones account had been credited a lot of money by mistake. After a fortnight or so the bank realised the mistake and got the money back, (the customer hadn't known about it till they received their paper statement at the end of the month) but the interest earned in the meantime they couldn't have back as that wasn't part of the original sum, so the customer was quids in despite the banks mistake.

Of course she should face prison time - she stole 135K fer christ's sake, that is a custodial sentence.
The purpose it will serve, smudge and lonnie, is to punish her for her thieving ways - she knew it wasn't her money and yet she spent it anyway, it doesn't matter where the money came from, she stole it: it really is as simple as that.
Prison is a punishment and she deserves to be punished.
And karlpeg - of course banks are businesses, they're not in it for the pure joy of being bankers, they are in it to make money. Obviously.
If she escapes a custodial it will be an absolute travesty - and as for looking like the victim and being hard done by, I bet the thick bitch genuinely thinks none of this is her fault.
