Exchanging pounds

I'm going to South Africa for two years and want to exchange my pounds to rands. what is the cheapest way to do this? i want to pay the minimal costs.

Assuming it's a large sum, a bank transfer or use of a currency broker is going to be the cheapest way - it won't be free, but it will be small in relation to the amount
