iPhone going straight to voicemail

Every now and again my calls seem to be going straight to voicemail and my phone doesn't ring. It doesn't show any missed calls either. Have double checked and I don't have any diverts on. It doesn't happen all the time. Just wondered if anyone else had encountered this and if there's anything you can do about it? Don't know if it makes any difference where your phone is at the time (ie it was in my jeans pocket when it happened yesterday)??

if your phone doesnt have any signal at the time of it trying to receive a call it will divert the caller straight to voicemail ..
