Please help me with what to wear for my 55 year old daughter's second white wedding, I have bought a pale pink jacket and a pink flowered skirt and it looks so wrong I feel sick. I am quite happy to buy another outfit but I have been on all the web sites and cannot see anything suitable at all, and please don't tell me to ask for a personal shopper in store because I would be too embarrassed. I am 5'2 pear shaped and short waisted.

A dress is more flattering , have you looked on m&s, ?
Get yourself a nice shift dress to wear with the jacket.
I agree with Tilly ;-)
....for once...!
Yayyyy:-)
I like Islay's last post. I was trying to think of a jacket and dress combo that would suit a pear-shaped body. I think she's got it.
Let us know what you go for.
I'm going to be mother of the groom next year and have no idea what to wear.
I agree that Islay's second post is a good choice if you're pear shaped. The fact that I cant stand Lorraine Kelly made the choice a no brainer.
You don't say what's wrong with it. Is it the colour?, the style?
Give us a hint and I'm sure we can help you. :)

Thank you all for suggestions dress and jacket was my first port of call however pear shaped does come with a rather rotund tummy and shift dresses just do not flatter this. I have tried so many on and they just look awful and especially with a short jacket like the last post. Think I really need maternity wear ha ha ha. Was also wondering if maybe I should go for a darker colour and do any of you need or wear bodycon undies and if so which sort would help my big tummy, oh dear depresses me even talking about it and I would love to enjoy her special day.
I guess the original skirt was a bit flarey, lairy or just not the style bluebird is used to wearing. Or maybe the colour of the jacket was wrong. I hope bluebird comes back with some feedback.
Rather than anything too fitted and holding you in or being uncomfy with control garments, go more loose and floaty.

Your body is beautiful to the people who love you.
Try taking your daughter or a good friend with you and actually hit the high street rather than relying on the internet. You can try things on and have a giggle while you're at it. Make a day of it, have lunch and mooch around the shops.
It may just be an accessory to go with your current outfit that will make it sing for you. or you could realise that actually, the outfit you already have was really nice all along.
I think a prom dress looks nice on a pear shape. Fitted in the body and then flaring out from the waist. Knee length is my preference but about an inch above the knee for you because I'm taller.
This should be an exciting day. Please don't let your perceptions of your body spoil it. The people who matter and who love you think you are a stunner!
Crossed posts just now.
Get some of M&S bodycon knickers and tights.
I don't think pink flatters anyone. Maybe darkish blue. A skirt suit.
Get a great hat.
Actually, I love Mamya's suggestion. I think I might buy it myself.
As quiz said, don't get too hung up on it.
The worst thing is feeling squeezed in or struggling to get your extra strong lycra knicks down in the loo - we've all been there.
I quite agree Mamya and cloverjo. Wear something comfortable above all else.
I do think you need to be comfortable ( life is too short to be wearing push me pull me underwear) mamyas idea looks good !.

Thank you all for your suggestions it is so hard to find something fitting for my age as well as my shape. Think you're right about the bodycon, years ago my mother in law used to start out in a corselette and after a couple of hours would disappear into the toilet and come out smiling saying it's in my handbag now I can enjoy myself lol. I will let you know if I find anything
