Norfolk's very nice. Lots of cheap digs of all sorts, and you have the choice of resorts like Gt Yarmouth and Caister, or you can farther north to the quieter and more traditional seaside towns like Hunstanton, Lowestoft and Cromer. All have pretty good beaches although as in most of Britain, you can't guarantee the weather.

There's plenty to do inland, too. Lots of things like farm centres and steam railways and the like.
If it was later in the year, I'd say Cornwall, but the weather can be quite disappointing in the Spring and put a real dampener on your holiday down there as so many of the attractions in the county are outdoor ones, none more so than the outstanding coast. There's also plenty for kids. We go nearly every year, but during July or August.

If it takes your fancy, try the Cornwall Tourist Board on 01872 322800 for starters.
Center Parcs, plenty to do for everybody - also has childrens clubs where the little ones can go to give you a break for an hour or two. Kids will love the pool. Weather doesn't matter either as there are plenty of activities and soft play indoors - you can hire a bike with a trailer for your older child and that comes in handy for the shopping as well. Should be reasonably priced then as it is not school holidays.
where are you from Danni?

and what sort of thing are you looking for / interested in?

countryside, coast, mountains, cities?

Was going to say Norfolk / Cornwall / Devon myself.

Good thing about Norfolk though is that you can easily get to London, Cambridge, Norwich for a day out.

Thanks everyone some great ideas there :)
Barney I'm from Bournemouth, we are looking for somewhere off the beaten track but within easy reach of attractions, we like 'strolling' but we are no hikers!! countryside rather than coast i think, kids would love working farm type attractions x
derbyshire is nice for walks, scenery and rural type attractions.Dovedale-Thorpe Cloud is beautiful and fun with stepping stones and it doesnt cost a penny! I cant remember how far Alton Towers is from there but we always had a day out there while visiting derbyshire too.
oh sorry if I sounded patronising Danni, just assumed you were abroad and not that au fait with the UK.
