Things normally found in books - pages, binding, words, pictures, frontispieces...
If you mean stories - they often have children, animals, fairies and witches, robots, aliens, pretty much anything these days!
This really depends on how old the children are and whether if you want to know for present giving or just general knowledge. If you are buying a present it's best to ask the parent what they have already.
My eldest loved "Spot" lift the flap when she was 4 but my youngest, now 6, wasn't really interested. It depends on taste. However, lift the flap with younger children really goes down well.
Jacqueline Wilson is well regarded for older children but be careful which one you buy. Some of her books are aimed at young teens so the subject matter may not be suitable for younger children.
