Making a girl?
A friend of mine is planning her second pregnancy and would like a girl this time (she won't be gutted if she has another boy, she would just quite like one of each).... can anyone explain the theory (of which I only have a very vague and woolly recollection) about trying to have sex as near to ovulation as possible, due to boy sperms swimming quicker than girl sperms, or somesuch?
Thanks!

Part 1
It states in my DR Miriam Stoppard book that the gender of a child is determined by whether the fertilizing sperm is a X sperm (female) or an Y sperm (male), as the woman ovum is always female, X.
The X and Y sperm have different properties, The X sperm (female) being larger, slower and longer lived than the Y sperm, (male). The X sperm also appears to be favoured by the slightly acidic vagina.
Part 2
Bearing in mind there is very little scientific evidence to support them, the following ideas may be of interest to you.
Female baby, Make love up to or three days before ovulation as only female sperm lasts this long:
Male Baby, make love on the day of, or just after, ovulation, as the faster male sperm will reach the ovum before the female sperm.
Frequency- female baby, make love fairy frequenctly, as this lowers the proportion of the male sperm. Male- make love infrequently, as the will increase the proportion of the male sperm.
