Does any body buy christening gowns any more even for none religious ceremonies?????

Ive seen them bought for naming ceremonies but it tends to be just girls that wear gowns nowadays.
little boys are often christened or named in silk or linen suits

hi, its up to you really my little girl had a traditional gown, it also depends on what age the child is? they can also be very expensive but their are some pretty summer dresses about that you could use as christening dresses. bhs have some. i agree with redcrx that all the boys that i know have been in linen little suits.

My grandson is being christened tomorrow in a church and he is wearing a little shirt and trousers (he is 7 months old).

His Mum still has her and her brother's christening gowns but I think todays younger parents prefer the modern look instead of the traditional.

I like the idea of family gowns. My daughter wore my sister-in-law's gown which is over 50 years old. It was worn by my sister-in-law, her brother, my nieces and nephew. It was beautiful and my little woman was wrapped in history. She wore her babygrow underneath and was as slippery as an eel in the silk!
