Several weeks ago, my eldest daughter told me she was pregnant. After the initial shock and I'm ashamed to say anger (she's only 19) I was secretly pleased.

This morning, she had her first scan.........and....it's become they, THEY'RE IDENTICAL TWINS!!!!

Both she and her boyfriend are totally floored and I'm utterly gobsmacked.

I really am in a state of shock...TWO!

rofl @ rom, I'm coming across as a real dippy cow eh? LOL

BM- apparently Identical twins aren't genetic so it's no ones fault......lol
Laughed my socks off at .."fault" :-0)
Question Author
Well I was certainly laying blame a few weeks ago when she first told me BM!!!
Hi Boo, yep I was in total state of shock when I found out I was expecting identical twins (they're 17 years old now btw)
Was so terrified that I would get them muddled up that I kept hospital I.D. bracelets on them for days! Mums intuition takes over though, and even when they're identical you soon realise how different they look to those close to them. A word of warning, you may find as they grow up that the uninitiated treat them as a unit, eg sending them one birthday card, calling them "the boys" instead of by their names, its annoying, but you will know that they are individuals.
Hope you and your daughter have a lot of fun with your boys:-)

Thank you so much slinkycat- yeah I can see how annoying that'd be for them. We don't know the sex of them yet. She has her next scan at 18 weeks gone and should know then- hopefully!. They told her that she'll have more scans than normal because its a multiple.

I really am scared I wont be able to tell the difference- daft isnt it?
Hi Boo
Yep as soon as I'd posted my answer I realised you hadn't said that you knew what sex they were, got a bit confused I think after reading all previous responses about identical twins, duh!
Yes she probably will have more scans, but thats a good thing, you'll get to see the babies more often:-)
Honestly, you will be able to tell them apart, just look closely
and trust your intuition, they will look completly different as you get to know them
By the way, didnt chuck kitten out (see AB suggestions)

hehe slinky, im so glad. So there's a new addition to your family too then?
Hi Boo
Just read your wonderful news there's nothing more wonderful than a new wee addition to the family , in your case two. Congratulations to you all. You'll make a wonderful granny Boo.
No, Boo - my friend was shocked, and saddened that her daughter was "throwing away" her young years, but because the family are close and loving, everything's turned out alright so far. I don't see why you're worried about the helping out bit. It doesn't mean taking over or losing out on your own time. As a young granma, you'll be able to offer loads of advice and the occasional babysitting duties I'd imagine - but I'm sure you won't mind. You'll do it out of love.
I just thought of little miniBOO , she will be Aunty miniBOO,
( use real name obviously )....hee. :-)
Hiya Boo - Congrats! I only just managed to get on here after a while - on my day off today too so am at home and don't have to worry if the boss is peeping over my shoulder. Congrats to your daughter, I'm sure everything wil be great for her, she's lucky to have an understanding and supportive mum like you. I have my first scan on Saturday - don't think I could handle it if they told me there was two of the blighters in there though. When is your daughter due?
