how can you tell how big ur baby is?

ive been told im exactly right for size of uterus and everything, yet, being small framed, i havent put on a massive amount of weight....ive been trying to imagine how big my baby is as i do see lumps and bumps every now and then that ive identified as a bum and feet! ive only got a month and a half to go and i cant imagine my baby being big enough! or will i pile it on in the next month and a half? I suppose it is all squashed up in there! and the smaller it is the easier it might be to get out!

I was the same i am quite small myself and i didnt hardly put on any weight, my bump was small and neat! The midwife kept telling me i would have quite a small baby, about 6lbs.
It was only in the last month my bump did suddenly get a lot bigger but still they said it would be a small baby. I had a shock when he was born 8lb 6oz and he looked huge, but absolutely gorgeous! I know a lot of babies are much bigger but i am really small and didnt expect it!
Its not true about smaller babies being easier to get out, i know some who have struggled. Its the head thats the hard bit to get out and thats not usually any smaller.

You cant tell how big your baby is really. A midwife can get a fair idea but look how many pregnant women they see all the time.
If they think the baby is too small they will arrange a scan to check that all is well though so dont be overly worried.
If i recall corrwectly I think a baby puts on 1/3Lb a week in last few weeks. Once all the vital organs and lungs are developed completely then baby just stores fat and grows in that last month.
My son was born at 42+3 weeks and weighed 9lbs 6.5ozs, the midwives came to see me when he was 6 hours old and i told them his weight. They said they knew he was going to be big. when asked why they didnt tell me they answered that it wouldnt had made any difference other than to worry me about giving birth.
And yes, size of baby really doesnt make a great difference in how the birth goes. Ive known women unable to give birth to a teeny baby of 6lbs and others go through birth with no pain relief for much bigger babies than mine.
Just go into it with an open mind and see what happens.

I don't think there's a way to tell how big the baby's going to be. I'm only 5'2" and size 10 but my hubby is 6' and rugby-player build so it was going to be a toss-up between the two!

I never now belive when miswifes guess the weight, i am fairly tallish 5fy 7invh ok average and i have long upper body and everyone used to say i looked small, and midwives guessed each of my babies (3) to be about 7lb well all were 9lb something so i never beleive it, i have a friend who was huge and her baby was a modest 7lb.
Wheni gave birth i didnt have much water so it all depends some people carry big babies not much water, some small babies and lots of water.
