Helloooooooooooooo. :-)
I'm not a grandma yet:-( My daughter is almost a week overdue now,she is having a membrane sweep tomorrow at her midwife appointment,if that doesn't work she is being admitted to hospital for induction on Friday. She will be very glad when its all over, she isn't the most patient of people at the best of times!!! I'll definitely let you know when she has given birth(and maybe post links to photos too).
oh daffy, i can understand how frustrated she must be getting, at least she is getting a sweep early, i had to wait until 41+3 and an induction at 42 weeks.
Is the membrane sweep painful? I never had to have anything like that so have no idea.
She is having a hot curry tonight and is hoping that will start her off,she has tried everything else apart from the nipple tweaking thing as she said she can't be bothered sitting there for an hour at a time playing with her nipples.pmsl.
she obviously isnt that fed up of waiting yet then :)
The sweep isnt comfortable i have to say, but if baby low enough then the midwife should be able to reach the cervix and stretch it. It may cause a slight bleed and a show (the mucus coming away) but isnt painful.
I'd better tell her to take a sanitary towel or panty liner with her then in case she bleeds or has a show. I hope it works for her. I'm getting pretty impatient myself now as I am on call 24hrs a day as i'm one of her birthing partners...........I have to say I am absolutely terrified-way more than when I had my own kids!!!
lol i bet you have your phone with your 24/7. I remember trying to call my mum after id given birth. the only day in 4 weeks that she didnt have phone next to bed. 5am i called and it rang and rang as she ran all over house to find it, then i gave up and rang her house phone so she ran downstairs again, just as i rang off and called her mobile again. She wasnt happy lol
yes, tell her to have a towel ready just in case and also perhaps some parecetemol to hand in case she gets a tummy ache.
Hi redcrx, my daughter had her sweep this morning and she was already 1cm dilated when the midwife first examined her. She went ahead with the sweep anyway to try and hurry things along but she said that baby should be here by tonight or maybe tomorrow morning :-)
I'm excited, petrified, nervous, happy, all sorts of other things. I'm waiting now for the phone call telling me her contractions have started, the midwife couldn't believe she hasn't had any already. I've just been out and bought the congratulations card and teddy(Elliot elephant).
No baby yet :-(
I spent most of the night awake waiting for a phone call but didn't get one. As soon as I have taken my son to school I am going back to bed (I bet the phone rings as soon as I get to sleep.lol)
She had contractions that were 45 minutes apart and quite strong but they stopped at 4am,she is gutted! Its looking like she will be admitted for induction tomorrow. I'll lkeep you up to date on what is happening.
Reece was born today at 3:12pm weighing 6lb 9oz after a 14 hour labour (he decided to turn spine to spine half way through). My daughter did really well on the gas and air for ages and then opted for an epidural which calmed her a lot. He is a a really calm baby (so far) and of course he is adorable :-)
