Membrane Sweep

As mentioned in previous posts in this section, I'm having a Sweep tomorrow. I know the Midwife will use a finger to circle my cervix, to separate the membranes, which should start Labour within 48 hours.

What I'd like to know is.

1) Is it going to be painful
2) Will she use a Speculum to open Vagina
3) My Cervix naturally tilts down, will this be a problem
4) If you've had one, what did you think or feel

Thanks everyone. No Boo, I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and it was quite quick.

Have discussed the name Sqad Velvetee with partner Sqad and can't say he looked too enthusiastic, so back to the drawing board.

Not sure Tamborine. The Midwife said the head was 3/5 of the way down, I don't know if that means engaged or not.

Thanks Carron, will try to rest, although I feel very immobile at the moment and I'm sick of people asking if I'm having twins or triplets.

I was the same hun, sweep mon booked for an induction friday morning and went into labour myself on the thursday night! My wee one is a cancerian as well, she'll be 1 on the 19th July although she was due on the 6th. Relax and enjoy.

DO NOT REST.....jump about. You gotta break the water & get moving. Jump on the bed like a 5y old - have a pillow fight with the OH. Must not let that babe laze about in the womb as it just gets bigger & harder to bare.

it means that 3/5s of the head is still out of pelvis.

you need to get baby into right position, i went to 17 days over because baby wasnt on my cervix. had 5 weeks of pointless contractions.
