Hello im 37+3 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. Last weekend i noticed a good amount of mucous with was green tinged upon wiping, i didnt think much of it until Friday morning when the same happened again but it had blood in it.

I presume this is is the plug??

Is baby likely to be here very soon do you think? I didnt have this with my 1st as he was premature so waters broke spontaniously, until it went away during labour.

Babys head has been engaging in and out for weeks but since Fri to be honest i havent felt the same and VV uncomfortable!!

Thanks Lucy xx

Sorry that should have read *unless* it went away during labour (plug)!
It MIGHT be........but do call your doctor or midwife.

Sorry should have said i did call MW she asked me to call hospital but because i was exactly 37 weeks they werent worried and told me just to keep an eye on any pain. Have had some mild cramping and sharp type pains down there but have had this on and off for weeks, probably where head has been engaging?? To be honest i expected it to happen on weekend so now im just anxious!!
roomster....you didnt mention that you were getting contractions........tut!
Question Author
Im not!!
sounds like everythings getting ready but it can be a while after plug that baby arrives.

certainly sounds like a plug to me, presumably your urine samples arent showing any sign of infection.
Question Author
No all was fine with urine a fortnight ago, my BP was quite high. Should have appt Wed if i get there!
redcrx....I am not bothered about the urine.......placenta praevia come so mind.

roomster....do what the hospital says.
"placenta praevia come so mind"
wouldnt that have been spotted by scans though, sqad.
redcrx....bu99er it....you are right again.........I love you.
Question Author
????

I will, i imagine the next time i call the Hospital will be when i am contracting.
Question Author
Had 3 scans now so im hoping i shouldnt be worried about what your talking about!?!!
redcrx/roomster....remember when I did midder, there were no such things as scans...............still love you though.
stop it sqad, salla shall be jealous :)

roomster, id say just keep an eye on the pains (youll know when they are contractions, having been through it before). Baby is over 37 weeks now so fully "cooked".
roomster, sqad is talking about when the placenta is covering or partially covering the cervix. As he said, when he studied midwifery they didnt scan (they did a quick sketch on a slate board)

if the placenta is covering cervix then scan at 12 weeks wouldve shown this and it wouldve been monitored. Many move up and out of way by full term though.

Watch it. Anyway i hated Midder and midwives even more.

Ok thanks for that.

Oh yes ill know!!! Have been also having braxton hicks for weeks now but they arent painful (unless full bladder) just uncomfortable. Im very swollen down there too (sorry TMI!)
wont be long, with any luck. a quick search on here should give you some of the old wives hints for starting labour. lol
roomster-I had same with my daughter about 8 in the evening- with the blood -and she was born at 9.25 the next morning. She was in a hurry plus was overdue but perhaps you should anticipate it wont be too long now -I would keep in touch with your MW quite often so she can ask about symptoms and keep an eye on you.
I'll look out for your posts -exciting stuff :)
sqad. why did you hate midwives ?
