Watching the kids out of my window - there's a Darcy, Sol, Sarah, Paige and David. Lovely kids with names that just seem to suit them. My own grandkids are Alexander (Alex), Cameron (Cammy), Sara and Aaran. Names are very personal choice.
personally i only like jack or zac as the rest do seem a bit chavvy (sorry!) However, boys names ARE a nightmare, so just pick what YOU like. Before my son was born i absolutely couldn't think of a nice name for him. You can call girls practically anything, but not boys!
I like Zac... I know a wee boy called Yuri... Cute enough just now but I bet he'll hate it when he's older. I hated my name when I was wee because I could never get anything with Erin on it!! I've learned to like it and I get all my stuff now as it's more popular :-)
I like quite plain names.... my favourites have been Jack and James ever since I could remember. I've gone through phases of other names like Keith, Caleb, Ciaran and Oliver but I go on and off them :|
Do you have a favourite band, film, book etc? That Yuri was named after some guy in Dr Zhivago! :-)
My oldest daughter is Sha'ori- I like the name but she has to spell it for EVERYBODY including punctuation and even has had people tell her it can't be like that- (whatever!) so it's worth bearing in mind that if you pick an unusual spelling he might not thank you for it. If our last daughter had been a boy he would have been 'Jaden'. Personally I think you need to just call him whatever you like, what we like is of no practical use except to give you some ideas to mull over. Congratulations btw.
Out of those names I like Jack. But maybe do as craft says and have a short list and see if he suits any of them when he's here. I know what I would like to call a little girl if I ever have one, but it may well be that if I did I'd change my mind when I saw my child, other people I've spoken to said they did.
I was like that CD.. Had the name picked for ages if it was a girl and told my doctor. When she was born he handed her to my and said "well"....I said her name and he said "where the hell did that come from" She was going to be called Katherine. The moment I saw her I knew she was an Anna... If I had a Boy, which is so not going to happen I would call him Gideon....I love that name.
I have to include the name Jane somewhere as it's become a bit of a family tradition. It was great grans name or middle name I think so I have aunt Jane and my middle name is Jane for this generation so the next generation has to have a Jane too.. :c)
When our son was born we couldn't agree on a name, we had a lottery. We both wrote down our top ten favoured names and decided that if any of them matched then that would be the one. Michael was 7th on both lists, and Michael he is, and we still love the name as well as the son!
All I would say is: do consider -
1. the surname the first name will be put with (and also make sure the initials aren't silly like W.C.)
2. will the name 'wear in the wash' ie not be a 'fad' name - think about job applications etc in the future.
All best wishes to you............
