What is the current fashion for young boys high school bags? what's in and what's out? This is for my son almost 12 going up to high school. he has no clue and doesn't care but I don't want him to stand out so I want him to have what most other kids will have. He has an Animal brand backpack at the moment which is still in perfect nick, but not sure if that is an out of date brand or style now.

a lot of boys at my daughter secondary school all have drawstring sports style bags, nike, jd sports, adidas and reebok, I mainly see nike ones though.

My son wears these shoes ^^^ He has had the same style for years now and never once had the pee taken out of him for it.

thanks daffy :o)

You definitely get what you pay for in a bag anyway - we have one we use all the time that cost about £30 nearly 20 years ago - still going strong!

Thanks Cazz - he ahs one of those drawstring ones that he uses for gym kit - just checked and it's an adidas predator one so guess that'll do him for gym still.

Daffy - thanks again for that - those would be too big for him yet. He has always been really tall for his age, but the boys in his class all seem to be hitting puberty first so for once in his life he is not the biggest in his class - his fett have been a 5 and a half going on a 6 for well over a year too - guess he is due a growth spurt but he'll probably wait until I've bought his blazer!!
My two have either Nike or Adidas but they won't have a backpack they have to have like the thin gym bags. Most of them have one of the free bags from JD sports
I was in the same position when my son started secondary school. It's all about image and fitting in now! The 'in' bags are those sports bags which were popular in the 70s (in fact, I had an Adidas one!). They sling it over one shoulder to go across their body. He's had 2 of them in a short space of time but the handle isn't strong enough for his heavy books and his friends have the same problem. I refused to buy a third one as they aren't cheap so another 'in' bag are those messenger bags which again are carried across their body. He has a black one and the handle is much stronger. Popular brands are Superdry, Nike, perhaps Jack Wills.
my boy started last year and at his school they all use flight bags which you can get from sports direct etc, they are very good and hold all his books. don t get the cheapest one as it is false economy.
my boy started last year and at his school they use flight bags which u can get from sports direct etc. they are very practical and are branded e.g adidas, nike etc.they fit all his stuff in and are practical. but don t buy the cheap ones though, they are rubbish.hope it helps and good luck to your boy.

Thanks for your help everyone - he had a fabulous day at his transition event and I had a good look at what the kids were carrying - there was a good variety of what everyone was mentioning here so I am sure that we can pick something suitable that doesn't break the bank!!
