i think that nursing care in residential homes is funded by the NHS and is not means tested, so do you mean nursing care?

the home he is in is residential and nursing care, the nhs trust have always funded the nursing part fee ,the remainder £1780 pm was paid by the client, after 5years in care his finances have now got to the end, and council r paying starting this august £1780 pm,am i correct that the dwp pension he now draws weekly, will be stopped and he gets just a pocket money accordingly.

If you have been assessed as needing a care home place and your capital is below £23,250, you should be entitled to financial support from your local authority. If you have capital below £14,250 you will be entitled to maximum support although you will still contribute your income less £22.30 per week retained for personal expenses. If you have capital between £14,250 and £23,250 you will also pay a capital tariff of £1 per week for each £250 or part thereof between these two figures.

yes you are right - the benefits and pension has to be put towards the care (people not in a nursing home would spend their benefits on living expenses just the same). He will be allowed to retain "pocket money"
