This isn't early on? Basic tests are reliable from one day late. Spotting doesn't mean you are or you aren't. It could be implantation bleeding. Some people spot the whole way through. It could be just your cycle playing up. The only way to know is to take a test. Are you trying for a baby?

Menstrual cycles are on average 28 days. If that were the case you are likely to ovulate around day 14. If you're not pregnant your period will come around day 28. If your cycle is 30 days you are likely to ovulate around day 16 and have a period on day 30.
I would suggest keeping a diary of your cycle. You could google 'natural contraceptive' and you can learn a lot about how your body works.

most pregnancy tests these days can give you an accurate result from the 1st day you miss your period. I would recommend buying one and if the result is positive, don't panic too much about spotting. Many women spot in the first few weeks which is known as implantation bleeding, where the embryo is attaching itself to the lining of your womb. And in some cases, you can have normal periods all the way through, although this is rare. Keep your doctors appointment though and if the bleeding becomes heavy in the meantime, go to the hospital as they may be able to give you a scan to check everything's ok. Best of luck!
